Murata Finland’s Production System Development (PSD) & Production Planning (PP) team is responsible for ensuring that our customers receive their orders on time.
The team handles order processing, production planning, and setting targets and attributes in production systems based on the producton plan. Production progress and inventory levels are continuously monitored in collaboration with production. Additionally, the team is responsible for the development of production control, capacity analysis, and making investment proposals for the production phase. They also participate in solving quality issues and ramping up new product manufacturing, among other tasks. The goal is to enable smooth, high-quality, and cost-effective production.
What skills are needed in your team?
In this team, it’s necessary to understand our production flow and factors that influence that flow. In problem situations, it is important to grasp cause-and-effect relationships that affect our production flow, output, and quality. For new products, the team members need to comprehend both customer needs and Murata’s own production and delivery capabilities. They also need to know different production control systems, tools and programs.
Moreover, this team needs skills in capacity calculation and even in coding since many tools required for production control and development are created by the team members.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The versatility of our work is the best part. We are involved not only in daily production control but also in its development and problem-solving activities. It’s rewarding to see problems being solved successfully, the ramp-up of new product manufacturing or positive results from new tools or simulations.
We participate in both ramp-up projects for new products and ramp-down projects for end-of-life products.
How do you apply Murata’s philosophy and cultural etiquette?
Our team members are responsible, motivated, and always ready to help others. We share knowledge and expertise within our own team as well as with others throughout the organization. Quality thinking is deeply rooted in us, and we strive to deliver only high-quality products – made as smoothly as possible while being cost-effective.
In addition to Production System Development Engineers and Supply Chain Management Specialists, Sanna, a Translator, is also part of our team. She takes care of the Japanese translations and interpretations – this is also one important skill in a Japanese company!
