My name is Ion, and I am working as a summer trainee at Murata Finland’s Failure Analysis team. I am currently studying materials science at Aalto University at a master’s level and plan on graduating in the summer of 2025.

The Kaizen Core team brings together Murata Finland employees who share a burning passion for improving operations and enhancing the work environment.

I work in Finland at Murata’s R&D, and recently, I had the opportunity to go on assignment to Japan. My family and I moved here in January 2024. These past months and life in Japan have been challenging, wonderful, and definitely also strange.

I’m Antti and this is my third summer in Murata Finland’s validation laboratory. I’m an electrical engineering student at Aalto University and currently, I’m in the final stages of my master’s studies with plans to graduate by the summer of 2025.

In this career story, we get to know Cindy, who works at Murata Finland in the External Accounting team as an Accountant. Cindy’s journey at Murata began with testing MEMS sensor products and continued through various phases and additional studies towards her childhood dream of working with numbers.

The annual, three-month-long International Talent program at Aalto University brings together international students and companies. The program started in 2020 with the aim of helping students find employment and stay in Finland.

Murata Finland’s Production System Development (PSD) & Production Planning (PP) team is responsible for ensuring that our customers receive their orders on time.

Murata Finland’s Supplier Quality Management (SQM) team is responsible for ensuring that all our suppliers adhere to Murata’s high-quality standards. The team collaborates closely with suppliers and ensures that all purchased materials and their manufacturing processes meet sufficient quality standards before they are approved for use in Murata’s production.

In this video, tech enthusiast Aron Syrjä visits Murata Finland to learn about sensor production and product development, and then travels to Joensuu to the University of Eastern Finland to find out what studying photonics is like.

Semi-Summer was launched last year as a summer job campaign of semiconductor companies and Aalto University. Applied Materials, Bosch Nordic, KYOCERA Technologies, Murata and Okmetic have made a joint donation, with which Aalto University will offer interesting summer jobs in the Schools of Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Science in the summer of 2024. The summer jobs in the Semi-Summer 2024 programme provide an opportunity to gain the skills needed in a growing and international field.

Murata Finland’s MEMS Design Team is responsible for designing and modeling sensor elements based on microelectromechanical systems. MEMS elements are mechanical structures made of silicon that can be used to measure movement such as acceleration, angular velocity, or pressure.

Ponsse Plc is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of cut-to-length forest machines. Ponsse’s user- and environmentally friendly forest machines offer high stability in difficult conditions – stability empowered by Murata MEMS sensors.

What would the world look like without semiconductors and people behind them? Without the applications and devices enabled by semiconductors, from smartphones to computers, healthcare technologies to energy systems, our society would take a significant step backward. However, this rapidly growing industry needs even more talents. As a joint effort, semiconductor companies in Finland will launch an awareness campaign in January 2024 with the aim of attracting young students to pursue careers in semiconductors.

The Finnish semiconductor industry was presented at the Teknologia 23 event in Helsinki November. Did you know that the sector currently employs around 5,000 people in Finland, but as the sector grows, the need for experts will quadruple by 2032? The semiconductor field is extremely interesting – products are present in our daily lives, from mobile phones to computer networks and from computers to electric cars. Solutions based on cutting-edge technologies can also contribute to slowing down climate change and the green transition.

Murata has collaborated with Aalto University to develop a tailored and uniquely comprehensive solution to meet Murata’s needs for skilled personnel. The most recent example of this collaboration is the Lifewide Learning course package developed for the employees of Murata Finland. The collaboration also includes study paths all the way to master’s and doctor’s degrees.

Hi, I’m Pinja and I’m a student majoring in functional materials at Aalto University. I’m starting my last year of master’s studies in the fall. As a student in material technology, I had pictured myself in a summer job where I would have the chance to get practical experience in electronic applications and solve problems related to them.
