Murata will continue its cooperation with Icehearts. A new partnership agreement was signed at Murata on September 7, and the occasion also provided an opportunity to hear Icehearts’ latest insights on the well-being of children and young people, as well as the importance of long-term support.
Co-operation with Icehearts is an important part of our corporate social responsibility efforts. We want to support a local organization that does valuable work to promote the well-being of children and young people and help prevent social exclusion.
Over the past year, Murata’s annual donation has supported Icehearts’ operations in Vantaa and Kerava by funding staff resources, team camps and excursions, sports and recreational activities, participation in tournaments, and various shared equipment and operational expenses. In addition to floorball and football, children and young people have had opportunities to enjoy activities such as cross-country skiing and downhill skiing.
Long-Term Work Builds Hope
Icehearts is known for its unique model in which an educator supports a child over many years, from pre-primary education through lower secondary school, and now increasingly through upper secondary education as well. The same long-term approach is reflected in the organization’s partnerships.
“Icehearts’ work is based on being there for children and young people year after year. That is why it is especially important for us to have long-term partners like Murata supporting our work,” Icehearts says.
The impact of this support is visible in children’s everyday lives. According to Icehearts, companies’ involvement often comes as a pleasant surprise to children.
“Children sometimes ask, ‘Do they like us?’ when they hear that a camp, excursion, or activity has been made possible through corporate support. Many are surprised to learn that companies also care about their well-being. It is an important message: there is goodness in the world, and there are people who want to help.”
A Growing Need for Community and Belonging
According to Icehearts, changes in society are increasingly reflected in the everyday lives of children and young people. Financial difficulties among families with children have increased, many hobbies and recreational activities are becoming less affordable, values have become tougher, and societal polarization is also being reflected in the lives of children and young people.
In this environment, the importance of community, inclusion, and caring for one another is becoming even more significant.
“A sense of community is not built overnight. It requires time, presence, and long-term collaboration. That is why we are pleased to continue this partnership in the coming year as well,” Icehearts notes.
