The Test Equipment Development team drives innovation by ensuring Murata Finland’s MEMS Sensor Validation Lab is equipped with cutting-edge, reliable testing equipment and capabilities.
The team leads the way in building and maintaining the Validation Lab’s capabilities, turning ideas into reality through smart investments and continuous improvement. Let’s get to know them better!
What does the Test Equipment Development team do?
Our team is responsible for specifying, acquiring, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and maintaining test equipment for Murata Finland’s Validation Lab. We ensure that the Lab has all necessary testing capabilities, and we also facilitate equipment investments.
We play a significant role in Product Development projects, supporting validation testing through the entire product development lifecycle. We also perform various custom measurements and design mechanical structures on request.
As part of a service organization (Validation Lab), we collaborate closely with multiple other teams, including Murata Group factories worldwide.
What skills are needed in your team?
Our tasks are inherently multidisciplinary, requiring expertise across a broad range of fields. Our work is predominantly hands-on and guided by a scientific approach. The core expertise of our team members lies in mechatronics design and automation, complemented by a deep understanding of the physics underlying kinematics, vibration, impact, and heat transfer. We are skilled in coding, signal processing, and data analysis, and have extensive experience with reliability testing equipment, data acquisition systems, measurement instruments, mechanics, and machine tools.
In our team, strong soft skills are just as important as technical skills. Since we work closely together, good teamwork and clear communication are key to our success. We also value cultural awareness and understanding, as we collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders worldwide. Scientific problem-solving, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to personal growth are equally important.
What is the best part of your work?
We appreciate the opportunity to work with a wide range of high-end measurement equipment and engage in diverse tasks that continuously expand our skills.
According to a Senior Test Equipment Engineer, “The best thing about our work is that we have the opportunity to design how new tests are implemented. Flexible working hours and task organization allow us to work efficiently. Our team is very cohesive, and humor is always present even during difficult moments. We work together as one to tackle challenges. We approach challenges from many different angles and learn new things from each other every day.”
Another team member says: “I’ve been lucky to work at Murata for many years, especially in R&D and the lab, where I’ve had so many chances to learn new things and grow as a professional. Our team plays a key role in daily lab operations, and although challenges arise regularly, working closely together — both within our team and with others — gives me confidence that we can handle anything that comes our way. Plus, we always make sure to have some fun and share a few laughs along the journey!”
How do you apply Murata’s corporate philosophy and cultural etiquette?
Our performance is measured by the quality and efficiency of the services we provide. To support the success of Murata’s MEMS sensor business, we focus on innovation and delivering fast, high-quality validation testing.
Transparency, honesty, and trustworthiness are fundamental to our communication with stakeholders. Over time, we have fostered a culture of mutual respect and multicultural understanding that strengthens collaboration with internal and external partners.

🤝 Together, our team brings 83 years of combined experience at Murata.
